\"\"On Friday, March 10th<\/sup> 2017, the Langley Hospice Society announced that they have received a $5 million grant from the province, which includes $3 million from BC Housing and $2 million from The Fraser Health Authority to go towards the cost of a new hospice facility located adjacent to the Langley Memorial Hospital. Some attendees to the announcement were founding members Dorscie Paterson and Jeannine McCarthy, along with the Mayor of the Township of Langley, Jack Froese, President and CEO of Fraser Health, Michael Marchbank, BC Centre for Palliative Care, David Weir, Langley MLA, Mary Polak, LHS Board Vice President, Robert Carpenter, and LHS volunteer, Sue Westhaver.<\/p>\n

The new standalone 15 bed hospice is scheduled to open in 2019 and will replace the current 10 bed facility currently located at the Hospital grounds. The new building will have a home-like atmosphere and it will offer onsite facilities including green spaces in the form of a courtyard plaza, as well as additional support opportunities for both residents and their families.<\/p>\n

The Langley Hospice Society is hosting Plates & Glasses, a fundraising event at the Fort Langley Community Hall on Glover Road on Saturday, April 22nd<\/sup> 2017 as well as the Annual Butterfly Release fundraiser at Krause Berry Farms & Estate Winery in Langley on Saturday, July 8th<\/sup> 2017. We are honoured to be a part of this exciting new chapter for the Langley Hospice Society.
