Northview Community Church Landscape Architecture
Project DETAILS
Program
CHALLENGE
- To design outdoor spaces that allow for elements to be phased in as funding allows
SOLUTION
- Open lawn and expansive plazas will serve a variety of church activities
- Angular forms provide spatial character and connect each space, which are programmed with multi-purpose materials and uses, such as a future-playground surrounded by a grove of large-canopy trees
- Pedestrian-oriented intersections, pathways, and treed islands with wide canopies were used as traffic calming measures, which improve circulation and pedestrian safety
- Strong lines separate materials, surfaces and programming while complimenting the angles and edges of the building
- Entrances are delineated and reinforced with patterned paving and specimen trees, as desire lines are pro-actively identified and incorporated into the layout
